Extra funds earned from the Civil Engineering Internship (CEI) Job Board and other sources will be used to support critical non-academically taught skills, such as leadership and team building, vital to a successful engineering career. The CEI Selection Committee reviews student applications for various civil engineering student competitions throughout the year and awards CEI funds to worthy teams.
We believe the next generation of civil engineers should be given all opportunities to enter competitions such as the concrete canoe, steel bridge, earthquake shake table, and more. By reducing the pressure to obtain funds necessary to enter these competitions, we believe it will be easier for local university students to participate and grow from these experiences.
CEI funds are gathered from each job listing that is posted to our website. When employers purchase and publish an internship position, they are helping support up-and-coming civil engineers in numerous ways.
Professional engineering associations and private firms also have the opportunity to support students through donations. The job listing profits and all donations will be combined and ultimately awarded in the fall of each year to university teams participating in annual competitions.
If your company is interested in donating to support civil engineering student competitions, please contact the American Society of Civil Engineers - Los Angeles Section.
CEI is partnering with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) to review student applications and distribute funds.
The CEI Selection Committee will be led by ASCE to assess all applications in the fall of each year. The Selection Committee is made up of representatives from ASCE and other professional engineering associations or private firms who have donated over $1,000 that year to students through ASCE's Los Angeles Section.
The deadline for students to submit their applications for funding every year is September 30. After the Selection Committee makes its final decisions by October 20, ASCE will award the funds to the selected university teams on November 1.
