My name is Viviana Cabezas Lupercio, and I am currently entering my final year at the University of California, Irvine with a major in civil engineering, specializing in environmental hydrology and water resources. I found this job posting while looking for engineering internships in the Orange County area. I am a resident of Santa Ana looking for work and experience in the field of water management, hydrology, or civil engineering. I am eager to learn and apply skills that I have learned in my undergraduate education as well as develop and learn new skills that are not taught in classrooms. Because I wish to apply my engineering background to environmental and technical contexts, this internship experience will provide real life skills.
I observed three different electrical engineers with different positions and responsibilities. I observed teaching methods and took notes to develop an understanding of the company and a career in electrical engineering. The positions included a field and distribution engineer, system planning engineer, and operations engineer. I created a portfolio on the experience and knowledge gained that was later presented as my senior project in high school.
I held the position of team leader for about a year of my time working at Jack in the Box. I managed the store when the manager was not present, such as distributing breaks, being responsible for crew members, managing money and the safe, and handling large machinery. This includes communicating with and training new team members for different positions on the floor, as well as being well versed in each position myself. I became experienced in customer service and mediating any problems or miscommunications.
