As a second-year civil engineering student, I am looking to gain more work experience, and I am eager to learn and explore the field as a whole. I am a hardworking, motivated, and organized individual. Continuous interactions with customers and engineers from two previous summer internships have made my communication, teamwork, and interpersonal abilities strong. Additionally, I have basic knowledge of important programs such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, MATLAB, and Microsoft Office. I am excited to be able to apply what I have learned at UC Irvine so far to the real world!

My journey in engineering began in 8th grade when I discovered my passion for combining creativity and problem solving in my PLTW Engineering class. This early exposure led me to pursue engineering related activities throughout high school including my role as President of the Engineering Club and my participation in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). As I looked into the different engineering disciplines for college applications, I was drawn to civil and environmental engineering for its potential to directly impact communities and solve society's challenges. This aligns with my background in community service, where I dedicated four years to my school's Associated Student Body, planning events and contributing to discussions that directly affected my peers. Currently, I am a second year Civil Engineering student at UC Irvine, where my passion for the field has only grown stronger. I actively attend guest speaker events, participate on the Geowall team at UCI, and attend American Society of Civil Engineers(ASCE) events to deepen my understanding of the profession. My commitment to hands-on learning led me to secure a summer internship with the City of Citrus Heights, where I gained valuable insight into the public side of transportation engineering. Looking ahead, I am eager to explore more of the private sector of civil engineering. I am actively seeking an internship for the upcoming summer that will allow me to apply knowledge of AutoCAD and ArcGIS to real world projects and further develop my skills. My goal is to continue developing my knowledge of various specialties within civil engineering to the best of my ability so I can create infrastructure solutions that positively impact our society.

My name is Viviana Cabezas Lupercio, and I am currently entering my final year at the University of California, Irvine with a major in civil engineering, specializing in environmental hydrology and water resources. I found this job posting while looking for engineering internships in the Orange County area. I am a resident of Santa Ana looking for work and experience in the field of water management, hydrology, or civil engineering. I am eager to learn and apply skills that I have learned in my undergraduate education as well as develop and learn new skills that are not taught in classrooms. Because I wish to apply my engineering background to environmental and technical contexts, this internship experience will provide real life skills.

Dear Hiring Manager,  I am a first year graduate student pursuing a MS in Structural engineering at University of California Irvine, and I also obtained my EIT at the beginning of the year (Lic. #173192). During my undergraduate studies in civil engineering at California-State University Fullerton, I enrolled in courses that focused on structural engineering. After completion, I gained knowledge in internal stress theory, structural components, as well as developing structural plans. I implemented these concepts through projects such as the design of a  wood two-story house, a pre-stressed parking structure and a two story steel office space. All of which led me to pursue a career within the branch of structural engineering. In my third year at CSUF, I switched from environmental into structural engineering after completing my first structure in my structural steel course. The project consisted of designing a two-story steel structure, and showed me the multiple unexpected challenges that arise, but simple solutions can always be achieved using theoretical concepts. I became proficient using AutoCAD after completing my projects, leading me to obtain an internship at Sapphire Chandelier, where I was able to improve my drafting skills by drawing structural components. I am in my Junior year of the Civil Engineering program at CSU Long Beach this year.  My focus is on environmental issues and I am considering a minor in Environmental Policy if time permits.  I am feeling very prepared to start acquiring some hands-on experience and would like to explore water resources or any type of work that focuses on environmental cooperation.  Getting to know the industry and the current challenges being faced is very exciting prospect for me!  I can't wait to hear from you.

Hi, my name is Haley Herberg. I am currently a junior at the University of Washington pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. I have a passion for solving engineering problems and helping to protect the environment.  In my coursework so far, I have utilized Microsoft Excel, Matlab, and WolfPack to solve engineering problems in a variety of contexts. I have experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD form my geosurveying class. I have not yet had an internship, and I look forward to my first internship so I can learn from the engineers I will be assisting. In addition to my studies, I devote a large amount of my time to collegiate athletics. I run track and cross country for the Huskies, specializing in distance events. In both the academic world and the athletic world at University of Washington I am surrounded by people who push me to become better. Being a student-athlete, I have learned time management and prioritization. Additionally, the cooperation with my team and coaches toward a common goal prepares me for group projects in the engineering field. I am also conversational in Spanish and earned my Seal of Biliteracy upon graduating high school.  I would describe myself as determined, optimistic, and hard-working. My goal as an engineer is to work on projects that have a larger positive impact on my community than I would be able to have on my own. It would be very exciting to apply what I have learned in the classroom to a real-world application while serving the public. I am currently living in Seattle, Washington to train with my team while taking online classes, but this summer I will have the option to either live here or in Mission Viejo, California with my family.

I am currently a student at the California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA) majoring in Civil Engineering with a focus in Environmental Engineering. I am also part of both the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as a Student Member and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) - Student member. In addition to being part of those societies, I am also the former Project Manager for the CSULA Environmental Engineering Competition Team and former President of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Theta-Tau Chapter.  My main objective is to be hired in pursuance of expanding my expertise in Civil Engineering and challenging myself in a new environment to grow as an individual and a professional.

I am currently a second year civil engineering major at the University of California, Irvine. I have a passion for environmental sustainability and a strong interest in the construction field of civil engineering. I enjoy working with others and love being hands-on with my work.
