My name is Dominic Estrada, and I recently completed my bachelor's in civil engineering in May 2025. In my undergraduate experience, I have participated in construction research under one my professors to look more into trends in LEED certified buildings. Additionally, I am one of the structural leads for my school's Timber Strong Design Build competition. Before all this, I have also had the opportunity to participate in NASA's Community College of Aerospace Scholars program, where I was able to partake in all three mission programs. After having worked as both a roof salesman/ estimator, and as an installer, I have taken part in the development of numerous structures located throughout most Southern California Counties. As part of my experience, I have worked closely with customers, contractors, developers, inspectors, and realtors alike in mutual efforts to complete various residential and commercial projects. My name is Seth Watkins, I'm a junior at UCLA studying Civil Engineering.  I would like to be considered for an internship for the summer of 2022. I am  eager to apply what I have learned so far at UCLA while gaining hands on experience in structural/civil engineering, construction management, and related fields. While my actual engineering experience is limited, my relevant skills are not. I have three skills in particular that will make me a valuable contributor to your company on Day One.   Analytical/Critical Thinking- Ask any of my former supervisors and they will tell you that I was frequently asked to work on my own to solve problems I had not encountered before. I am comfortable figuring out how to deal with issues and finding ways to improve outdated systems and work patterns. Computational Prowess- I have a keen attention to detail and enjoy solving problems and ensuring the computations have been done correctly. Unmatched Work Ethic- I am not comfortable waiting for orders or work to become available. I seek out tasks that need to be done and apply my full effort to complete them.   There is more to tell, of course. When we meet, feel free to ask about the years I spent in South America speaking Spanish (and a bit of Portuguese and Guarani) with strangers I would approach on the street. Or how, as a teenager, I raised over $10000 in order to renovate a bald eagle’s habitat at the Santa Ana Zoo as a part of my Eagle Scout project. Ambitious 3rd year engineering student interested in water resource, stormwater, and coastal engineering, seeking a hands on experience through a professional internship. Open to remote opportunities or relocating if needed.  As a student at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), I have been able to expand my skills through involvement in various engineering projects and academic coursework as listed on my resume. These projects have allowed me to apply the theoretical concepts I learn in my courses to real world scenarios. For example, by participating in EngineeringX I have sharpened both my technical report writing and modeling skills. As project manager for our team I am also leading my fellow students to work hard and adhere to our timeline. In the current remote environment, I have also proven my diligence by taking on independent responsibilities within my research project, ensuring tasks are done in an efficient manner to further our shared goals. Civil and Environmental Engineering requires more than just technical skills, it requires someone who is able to see the broader picture and that water resilience is integral to the future. In order to become that holistic engineer, I broadened my studies through both my minor in Environmental Systems and Society as well as my technical breadth concentration in Sustainable Urban Planning. This allows me to combine technical skills with sustainable planning skills to be a well-rounded engineer ready to take on the world.
